Once again Steve is trying to play God thinking he knows he can fix thing with Kayla. He even tells Tripp how him and Kayla have been thru worse and they ll work it out. He minimizes Kaylas feelings and im waiting for it to blow up in his face.

Kind of a blah episode, but I liked a few things.
This was the first episode where I kinda, sorta liked JJ and Lani. They still lack obvious chemistry to me, but their little part about trying to re-write their initial meeting or whatever was kind of cute. The show desperately needs some better younger couples, so hopefully this is the start of something more compelling and/or rootable for them.
I think Claire has been one of the most consistently likable turnarounds of Ron's tenure. She's good as the talk-to and in non-brat mode. I'm kind of concerned that a Tripp coupling will ruin that for me, though. I also liked Valerie popping in at the end. I think those are the first scenes where I've genuinely liked her.
I don't care if the judge is corrupt, Brady is such an ass for threatening him. I also don't care about Nicole or her baby either. I mean, I like that Nicole isn't weepy 24/7, but this whole story just does nothing for me.
As much as I like S/K, I still don't care one iota about Tripp. His backstory was laughable, and now they're trying way too hard to redeem him. They're kind of doing to him what they did to JJ -- taking a "bad boy" and turning him into a goodie, upstanding guy. I still don't like JJ as a cop, but I will admit that his transformation was better than Tripp's has been. Having S/K's story pretty much revolve around him sucks.

The Ericole scenes were nice. This is the first time in a while that I've straight ff'ded Brady. I just can't stand him right now. I don't like him like this. I actually liked what Dena wrote for Brady/Eric when he trusted only Eric to help Nicole and I hate what Ron has done to their relationship. I don't mind Eric/Brady being at odds, but this isn't a good story.
I like Tripp/Steve. I wish they weren't writing it that Kayla hates Tripp because of what happened with Joey.
I like Lani/JJ, but they are kind of boring at times.

I don't think Kayla hates Tripp because of what happened with Joey. She's mad at Steve about that. I don't even think she hates Tripp, but she's pissed at him because of what he did to her and he's sitting in her family's pub having a beer with dad when she can't even talk to her son.

Who is Brandon?
Brandon is Nicole's brother. He is also Abe's son with Faye. He was last played by Matt Cedeno. He's ONLY been played by Matt Cedeno.

I've hesitated to comment on this one as some of what I'll say probably isn't very popular but what the heck.
I am a Stayla fan but this storyline isn't a good luck for either of them. I know many of their fans wanted them to have these fights/talks with "real" conflict and discussion and I get it, but everytime I hear Kayla do the "our son vs his son" I cringe. I understand she's angry about Joe being in prison but coming from a blended family that it one of my pet peeve's that just bugs me!
While I understand Steve wanting to still bond with Tripp, I do wish it hadn't been crammed into one day. Sure, he can love the kid unconditionally, its what parents do, I have no issue with that, and I can see Steve having a kinship with him as Tripp is the most like his younger self. But I do want to see Tripp earn his forgiveness and way back into the family. When they're on so infrequently it loses it's punch too.
I do like that they'll be incorporating Tripp soon more in with Theo and Claire. I think that will get interesting, now that I like them more.
The blended family issues on this show drive me crazy. They did a MUCH better job in the 80's and 90's with that. They've even regressed with families that were raised with good blended families. I'm also not sure how I feel about Tripp with Claire. I really wish there was more weight put behind the fact he could have killed Kayla and ruined her career. And I get he knows it was a mistake but he was so easily manipulated by Jade and Angelo, I can't get past it yet. For me that's why Im not mad at him. Jade and Angelo (especially Jade) manipulated him from the get go. And Steve and Kayla did lie to him from day one. He is sorry and there was no harm done, so as long as he keeps trying to make amends, he'll be on my good side.

This was a solid and very enjoyable episode. It was tremendously helped by not having the characters that I despise (Paul, Andre etc) and characters that I'm currently indifferent about (Chabby etc). Lani and JJ were sweet and I'm really trying to invest in them knowing what is likely to come with the Theo story. I can't believe how much I am liking Nicole again, and I'm determined to enjoy the ride while it lasts, Ericole still has the most potential by far out of any couple on this show. Theo and Claire were nice and I'm really going to miss KP, especially since I loved what I saw from Nu-Ciara. I also loved the simpleness of the Valerie and Kayla scenes and it was nice to see Kayla with a friend. Im thrown at the fact that anyone could despise Paul.

I think I need to see way more from him before I could be interested in him in a pairing.

He knew what Jade was about, including the way she tried to manipulate Joey. He also knew she didn't like Kayla. Yet instead of questioning her motives, he just took her word about Kayla. I can't feel all that sorry for him about that.
Beyond that, the "no harm done" thing just doesn't really fly. Lots of harm was done. Maybe not physical harm, but certainly emotional harm. And the only reason Kayla's career wasn't destroyed was pretty much blind luck. He doesn't get a pass on that from me.

The tampering alone is bad. I know he came back to save the day with the Hope error but what if he got a flat on the way back to the hospital? Someone could have died. All because he was SO blind. It also doesn't change the fact that it was fine when he thought Steve or joey killed Ava but when he thought it was Kayla, he needed revenge.

I agree! I thought the writing was good for them in this episode and made them a bit more likable. I really want to like Lani more in general, so I'm hoping this can get me there to get me more invested in them.
I also thought the Brandon mention was nice by Claire. So much more connection to offscreen family in the dialogue lately!

Today was alright, although a little boring.
I took Brady, a little seriously today knowing what the judge did with deimos to turn it into Nicole's favor. I am glad he didn't bribe the judge. Serious rewrite with deimos though, he never bribed the judge to keep holly away from Nicole, he bribed the judge to return holly to her.
Liking the clean slate with Tripp to kayla, planning to give away all his Vitali money to the hospital. The set up with kayla seeing Tripp and Steve toast was good, although she doesn't know what was discussed, realistic that she is still angry.
Eric looking forlornly, as bricole hug, although he doesn't know it was Brady that made Nicole's dream come true.
Glad to see friends kayla and Valerie, support one another.
I find jj and lani kind of boring. Sal is trying too hard.
Its not actually a re-write.While Deimos and Nicole were together,he bribed the judge to give Holly to Nicole which backfired when Belle found out causing Nicole to lose the custody battle which caused Nicole to break up with him. After Nicole broke up with him,Deimos bribed the current judge to take Holly from her.I personally love Brady with edge so I was behind him 100% today.I also liked when Brady had Vivian in the sarcophagus and when he and Theresa first met.He could see right through her act and called her on it.They should have kept that dynamic instead of attempting to make Theresa a good girl.
